Are water pressure switches preset?
Pressure switches on private home well systems generally come preset from the factory. In most cases the switches are set in a range. The pressure switch is set to turn on the pump when the water pressure is at 30 psi. The switch will then turn the pump off when the system reaches an upper limit of 50 psi.
Can a 30 / 50 pressure switch be changed to 40 / 60?
Galvanized nipples tend to plug up quickly. Your pump should do 40/60 no problem. But you can make a 40/60 switch from a 30/50 switch if you need to by just tightening the large adjustment about 3 full turns to the right.
